Tuesday: U.S. staffing companies employed an average of 2.8 million contract workers per day in 2011, up 8% from 2010. Firms hired 12.9 million temp workers over the course of 2011. (American Staffing Association)

Wednesday: By the numbers – restaurant & retail sectors plan to increase temp labor +42% over the next two years… 83% of large buyers will use a VMS by 2013… and 34% will formally manage its global contingent workforce. (SI Review)

Thursday: On Wednesday, Germany’s opposition party, Die Linke, called temp workers “second class employees” – Manpower spoke out about the accusations. (SIA Daily News)

Today: Good news for U.S. labor – employers added 227,000 jobs in February to complete three of the best months of hiring since the recession ended. The unemployment rate stayed at 8.3 percent, the lowest in three years. (Associated Press)
